Man found dead

Published Thursday, February 4, 2010 4:40 PM MST

GRANTS - A 45-year-old man was found dead in the St. Teresa Catholic Church parking lot on Jan. 29. A call was received at approximately 5 a.m. in reference to a person in the parking lot.

Wilferd Molina had no pulse, according to Grants police officer Jessie Nieto, the first to respond. Det. and Public Information Officer John Castaneda said that “it is possible that he (Molina) slipped and hit his head. However, we are awaiting the results from the Office of the Medical Investigator to confirm. It could take weeks.”

Molina, a Hispanic, was a longtime resident of Grants. Alcohol was not listed as a contributing factor.

" What does the mans race have to do with the story? If he was white/black would it have been part of the story? And it was ironic that after the mans race was mentioned so was alcohol. Would this indicate that all hispanic are alcoholics? "
