Community prayer meet set for prisoners
The Baha'i group of Cibola County has organized a prayer meeting for imprisoned group leaders and believers in Iran on Feb. 7, from 3-4 p.m., at the home of Seth and Carla Ward, 1740 Encino Ave., in Grants.
The leaders, on trial starting Feb. 2, are charged with spying for Israel, a charge their supporters say is motivated by religious discrimination. The seven, two women and five men, are also accused of spreading propaganda against the Islamic republic and committing religious offenses, charges that can carry the death penalty, according to a CNN online report. The U.S. State Department recently condemned Iran's decision to try the leaders.
