“They play all kinds of music and most of the musicians hail from the Las Vegas area,” said member Joe Valencia.
The Knights will provide posole, chips and salsa, but no outside food or drinks will be allowed because of licensing restrictions. The hall has its own bar.
Valencia noted that the organization would provide rides home for those who overindulge. “If a person wants to leave his car, it will be parked behind a locked gate,” he said. The Knights are permitted by law to open their facility to the public a few times a year and proceeds are donated to charity after expenses are covered.
Valencia wasn't able to predict the turnout, but he pointed out that the hall can legally accommodate 600 people. Cost for the party is $15 per person.
Partiers who want to rock out can check out Outlaws Bar, where Unwound will be playing from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The cover charge of $10 will include party favors. The bar is promoting the designated driver program to its patrons.
Jay's Bar will provide party favors and food for the $12 per person cover charge and feature the band Power Drive from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
Dancing Eagle Casino will present Thoreau band, Nightbreeze and Laguna group, Village Express from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. There will also be a balloon drop, confetti blast and party favors.
For those more interested in fine dining than amplified music, the New Mexico Steakhouse at the Best Western Inn will feature special entrees of Prime Rib and Alaskan King Crab from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Huwaka Restaurant at Sky City Casino will present a New Year's Eve buffet to include Prime Rib and an array of soups, salads, fruits, sides and desserts.
Revelers should be aware that a Super Blitz will be in effect, with members of the Grants Police Department, the Cibola County Sheriff's Department and the New Mexico State Police out in force to enforce DWI laws.
Have a Happy New Year.
